Mayor encourages public to help shape future of healthcare at Foyle Maritime Festival
29 June 2026
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Grace Uí Niallais met with staff from the Western Health and Social Care Trust at the Foyle Maritime Festival to visit the Department of Health NI’s ‘This Is Our Health’ public engagement team, that are stationed along the quay.
Led jointly by the Department of Health and the Public Health Agency, this vital initiative aims to redefine the relationship between the public and the health service. By placing a greater emphasis on personal wellbeing, preventative care, and a shared responsibility for better health, the initiative empowers citizens to play an active role in their own care and the wider system.
Visitors to the festival today are being urged to take a few minutes to stop by, complete a short survey, and make their voices heard.
Mayor Uí Niallais said: “This survey takes just a couple of minutes to complete, but it represents a massive opportunity to have a real say in shaping the future of our health service. It is also a great way to kickstart thinking about simple, everyday changes we can all make to improve our own health and wellbeing.
The engagement team are located at the Derry City and Strabane District Council staff car park, located directly beside the Foyle Maritime Festival’s Main Stage throughout the day.
