Speaking after the visit, Mayor Uí Niallais said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the Northeast Ohio delegation to Derry and to host them at the Guildhall as we continue to strengthen the growing relationship between our city region and Northeast Ohio. I was particularly proud that the delegation was led by Derry native, Mark Owens, Vice President of Marketing at Team NEO and Honorary Consul of Ireland for the State of Ohio, whose commitment and vision have been instrumental in developing these valuable transatlantic connections.
The Mayor said the visit provided an excellent opportunity to showcase all that Derry and Strabane has to offer while exploring new opportunities for collaboration in business, investment, innovation, education and cultural exchange.
She said the discussions throughout the visit highlighted the many shared ambitions between our regions and the potential for meaningful partnerships that can deliver lasting benefits on both sides of the Atlantic.
Mayor Uí Niallais concluded: “We look forward to building on the relationships established during this visit and continuing to create opportunities that support economic growth, innovation and community development for the people of Derry, Strabane and Northeast Ohio.”
