The Easter Tea Dance will take place on Wednesday 8th April 2026 from 2pm until 4pm in St Davog's GAC, 2 Park Road, Aghyaran, Castlederg.

To ensure as many people as possible can attend, the Mayor is providing complimentary transport with several pick-up points across the district. The bus schedule is as follows: 12:30 pm: Pick up at the layby at the Guildhall, Derry; 1:00 pm: Strabane (Car park at Town Hall); 1:20 pm: Sion Mills (Bus stop); and 1:30 pm: Victoria Bridge (Bus stop).

The bus will depart at 4pm from Aghyaran for the return journey

Guests will be treated to an afternoon of live music from local musicians, Hugh P & Maria Doherty, as well as light refreshments.

Mayor Ruairí McHugh said he was delighted to bring his Easter Tea Dance to Castlederg and encouraged all those interested to come along for an afternoon of good craic.

“I am really looking forward to bringing my Easter Tea Dance out into the rural district and my home town of Castlederg. The charity Tea Dances offer a fantastic opportunity to get out and about in the community, have a hot cuppa, and enjoy some great live music.  I’d love to see everyone come out and enjoy a great afternoon of fun, while fundraising for my two chosen charities. Get your dancing shoes on and come along for a lovely afternoon.”

While the Tea Dances remain a free event, donations to the Mayor’s charities are welcome. Mayor McHugh is committed to raising much-needed funds for PIPS Suicide Prevention and the Castlederg Patient Comfort and Terminally Ill Fund while he is in office.

PIPS Suicide Prevention Ireland Charity provides counselling and befriending support to individuals who are experiencing or have experienced suicidal thoughts or mental unwellness. PIPS Charity also provides support to families and friends who have been touched by suicide. Their life-saving services offer free, confidential counselling with no restriction on the number of sessions provided.

The Castlederg Patient Comfort and Terminally Ill Fund was established to improve the quality of life of chronically and terminally ill persons in the Castlederg area who wish to be cared for at home. It provides specialist equipment, aids, and financial assistance to those facing hardship or requiring help with transport costs.

Tickets for both the event and the transport are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone wishing to attend must register with the Mayor’s Office no later than Thursday 2nd April 2026.
