Mayor welcomes Task Force for Derry UU campus

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr Patricia Logue has welcomed news that the Economy Minister Conor Murphy has launched a taskforce to develop and oversee an action plan to expand Ulster University’s Derry campus at Magee to 10,000 students.
Mayor Logue said she was confident the Task Force, which is to be made up of representatives from a broad range of organisations and sectors, is a positive way forward towards looking at the wider needs of university campus expansion and increasing student numbers and the local environmental and infrastructural needs to support it.
Mayor Logue thanked the Minister for his commitment to the North West region and his focus on addressing regional imbalance.
“This is very positive news for the city and region. I am confident that by getting the key people around the table they can bring forward an action plan that will look at practical and real solutions to how we can achieve economic, sustainable growth to our city and district. I want to congratulate the Minister on taking this forward and wish the task force every success in its work going forward.”
