Multi cultural celebration in Strabane

The Strabane Ethnic Community Association (SECA) will host its flagship annual multi-cultural night celebration tomorrow, Saturday, 26th September 2026, at St Patrick’s Hall, Strabane. Now in its 19th year the event is a celebration of the rich tapestry of cultures and talent that is thriving in Strabane.
The Strabane Ethnic Community Association (SECA) will host its flagship annual multi-cultural night celebration tomorrow, Saturday, 26th September 2026, at St Patrick’s Hall, Strabane. Now in its 19th year the event is a celebration of the rich tapestry of cultures and talent that is thriving in Strabane.
Attendees can look forward to a global culinary journey featuring authentic dishes prepared by SECA members representing Thailand, India, Brazil, Romania, Cambodia, and Poland as well as enjoy a packed line-up of live local entertainment, including Irish dancers, Highland dancers, Italian singers, Indian dancers, traditional musicians, and contemporary performers.
The event is the perfect forum for members of Strabane's Town of Culture Bid team to provide information on the ongoing bid for Strabane to become the first Town of Culture in 2028 and to get local people signed up to have their say on what they want to see included in the bid.
Deirdre Harte project officer with Council who is leading on the Strabane bid said the event was a great opportunity to engage at grassroots level and encourage more community involvement.
She said: “The bid team are actively stepping up efforts in the town to engage with communities to ensure their voices are heart and that the bid is community led by local people. We are delighted that we can attend this hugely successful event in Strabane to help get that message out.”
Kamini Rao from the Strabane Ethnic Community Association said: “Our Multi-Cultural Night gets bigger and better, and we absolutely love seeing Strabane come together to embrace food, music, dance, and cultures from around the world. We are also delighted to have the team from the Town of Culture in attendance to help get the message out and get local communities involved."
Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend. Doors open at 6.45pm and food is served from 7pm. The public are encourage to bring family and friends and to join in the celebration of the community in Strabane and what makes it so special.
