New Spring Arts Programme at Strabane Library

Derry City and Strabane District Council is delighted to announce that its Arts Development Programme, offering a diverse and vibrant season of creative workshops, will take place at the Strabane Library this Spring 2026.

 

From traditional herbal wisdom to contemporary fused glass, this new series of workshops offers something for every age and ability level and is designed to foster community wellbeing and artistic growth.

 

The spring schedule features nationally recognised artists and expert facilitators and some of the highlights of the upcoming season include creative writing sessions with Dr. Katharina Maria Kalinowski on February 28th for a session exploring the deep connections between humans and their environments and a four-week "Spring Herbal & Flower Essence" led by and artist Jane Christie , beginning April 11th, focusing on nervous system health, digestion, and seasonal self-care.

 

For those interested in visual arts, there is a Master the art of Landscape Painting with Sheila Byrne (April 11th), a Silk Painting class that runs over four weeks with Caroline Devenny starting April 18th or Spring Ceramic Planter workshops with Leona Devine for a unique intergenerational experience.

 

There is an introduction to photography that will run over four Saturdays in March, with Sinead Crumlish who will teach phone camera techniques, composition, and "photography walks".

 

A host of events for Easter have also been scheduled including Easter Storytelling and clay-based Craft Workshops on Saturday, April 4th where families are invited to attend for free.

 

Other events including a Makaton Taster Workshop with Denise Devlin takes place on March 7th, offering an informal introduction to signs and symbols for those aged 12+ while children aged 8–12 can learn glass cutting and design with Natasha Duddy on May 23rd to create colourful floral bunting.

 

In accordance with the Council’s Child Protection Policy, all children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult, and parents are required to register their child at each session.
