Local people are being encouraged to avail of some helpful advice at a free online financial wellbeing event taking place as part of Talk Money Week.
Local people across Derry and Strabane District are being encouraged to avail of some helpful advice at a free online financial wellbeing event taking place as part of Talk Money Week this November.
Led by the Money and Pensions Service and supported by councils across Northern Ireland, the online event will bring together a range of organisations offering practical advice and guidance on managing money, reducing household costs and accessing support services. The event will take place on Tuesday 3 November from 10am until 4pm and participants can join for the full day or simply log in for the sessions most relevant to them.
The programme will cover a wide range of topics including budgeting, energy efficiency, scams awareness, debt advice, benefits, food bank support, pension guidance and planning ahead. Expert speakers from organisations including the Consumer Council, MoneyHelper, Trading Standards, National Energy Action, Trussell and Independent Community Advice (CAAN) will share practical information designed to help people feel more confident and in control of their finances.
Encouraging people to register, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Grace Ui Niallais, said: “Talk Money Week provides an excellent opportunity for people to access trusted, practical advice that could make a real difference to their everyday lives. We know that many households continue to face financial pressures, and this event brings together a wide range of expert organisations that can help people understand what support is available and offer guidance on everything from household budgeting and energy costs to benefits and future planning.
“I would encourage anyone who wants to make their money go further, learn new ways to manage their finances, or find out more about the help available to them to take some time to join the online sessions. Even small changes can have a positive impact, and the information shared throughout the day could help people make informed decisions for themselves and their families.”
The free event will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams. Join the event here - https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/363646040716073?p=CXycerDV3gqZaIJxnj Meeting ID: 363 646 040 716 073 Passcode: W7Qp9Wo2
