Santa Delivers Christmas Magic with North Pole Post Box in Guildhall Square
26 November 2025
Santa Claus is returning to Derry this festive season and he’s once again teaming up with Derry City and Strabane District Council to make sure children across the city and district can get their Christmas wish lists to him in plenty of time.
Santa’s special North Pole Post Box will be installed in Guildhall Square on Wednesday 26th November, where it will remain until Tuesday 16th December, giving families ample opportunity to drop off their letters during the busy festive period. To help his workshop run smoothly, Santa is asking children to include their name and postal address and he has personally promised to respond to every letter received before the deadline.
The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, welcomed Santa’s decision to base the Post Box in the heart of the city once again:
“We are delighted to work with Santa and his team of hardworking elves and reindeers to ensure every child across our Council area can get their letter to the North Pole ahead of Christmas Eve. This is an incredibly busy time for him, so I’d encourage families to post their wish lists early to guarantee a personal reply and keep that festive spirit alive!”
Families are reminded that the final day for posting letters is Tuesday 16th December to allow Santa enough time to reply before he begins preparations for his Christmas Eve journey.
