Derry City and Strabane District Council have confirmed some of the alternative arrangements for its service users during the temporary closure of the Alley Theatre and Conference Centre in Strabane.
The facility is closed for approximately six months to facilitate remedial works.
All Arts Development Workshops, Halloween and Christmas events have been moved next door to the Strabane Library while the Studio 1 CIC Craft Collective have moved their popular Artisan Craft Market at the end of November to The Den, in Melmount Road.
“While the essential work will regrettably have an impact on the many service users and partners of The Alley, we have been working closely with them all to minimise the impact of the closure and, where possible, to assist with alternative opportunities to host events in the Strabane area during the works,” explained a spokesperson from The Alley Theatre.
“We are fortunate that the Strabane Library can accommodate many of our workshops and festival programming during the closure and we have worked with local groups to scope performance spaces during the closure.
“On behalf of the Alley I want to thank all our patrons, community groups, promoters and stakeholders who make the venue so special, and we are already looking forward to opening again and serving the public in 2026.
“We value the much-loved facilities and services that are hosted within the Alley, including the ASPACE 2 Coffee Shop and Studio 1 CIC who we will miss until we reopen.”
All Arts Development Workshops will now take place at Strabane Library, with a comprehensive programme for all ages.
