What’s on

Ar Theacht an tSamhraidh

Date: 6 March 2026

Venue: Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, 37 Great James' Street, Derry, Derry, BT48 7DF

Tá muid ag beartú oíche scéalaíochta a reáchtáil ina mbeadh seans acu siúd a chuaigh go Rann na Feirste sna 60í agus na 70í, sula raibh na meáin shóisialta againn, a scéalta a insint, a ra cá háit ar stop siad, cé hiad na múinteoirí a bhí acu, labhairt ar na céilithe agus mar sin de. Beidh muid ag insint na scéalta, beidh ceol againn agus, má tá muid in ann chuige, b'fhéidir go mbeidh céilí againn fosta. ___ We are planning to hold a storytelling evening where those who went to Rann na Feirste in the 60s and 70s – before we had social media – would have the opportunity to tell their stories, where they stayed, who their teachers were, their céilithe etc. We will be telling the stories, we will have music and if we are feeling up to it,

Beidh Coláiste Bhríde Rann na Feirste ag ceiliúradh 100 bliain in 2026. Ó thosaigh na cúrsaí samhraidh, tá na sluaite ó chathair Dhoire ag taisteal ar an traein go Croithlí nó ar bhusanna Loch Súilí ó am go chéile, ar bís le bheith ar ais sa Ghaeltacht.

Is cuid dár stair chultúrtha agus shóisialta iad na cuimhní seo agus ba chóir dúinn iad a choinneáil do na glúine a thiocfas inár ndiaidh.Tuigimid fosta go bhfuil muintir Rann na Feirste ag iarraidh na scéalta a chluinstin agus iad a choinneáil beo chomh maith.

___

Coláiste Bhríde Rann na Feirste will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. Since the summer courses began, crowds from Derry city have travelled there by train to Crolly or on the occasional Lough Swilly bus, excited to be back in the Gaeltacht.

These memories are part of our cultural and social history and we should preserve them for the generations that come after us. We also understand that the people of Rann na Feirste want to hear the stories and keep them alive too.

We are planning to hold a storytelling evening where those who went there in the 60s and 70s – before we had social media – would have the opportunity to tell their stories, where they stayed, who their teachers were, their céilithe etc.

We will be telling the stories, we will have music and if we are feeling up to it, we may even have a céilí too.
