Join CCÉ Baile na gCailleach from 18th–25th October 2026 for a fantastic week of events marking their 10th Anniversary, alongside Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann’s milestone 75th Anniversary. This special week promises an unforgettable celebration of traditional Irish music, culture, friendship, and community across Derry City and Studio 2, Skeoge, with engaging events designed for lovers of traditional arts of all ages.
The festivities kick off on Sunday, 18th October, from 8:00pm to 11:00pm with an energetic Céilí at St Columb’s Hall, Derry, featuring lively tunes by The Close Brothers Céilí Band (admission is £10 for adults and £5 for students, payable at the door). Midweek brings an insightful discussion panel to Studio 2, Skeoge, on Thursday, 22nd October at 8:00pm. Moderated by Siobhán Molloy, the event explores the role and relevance of traditional Irish music in Derry City from 1969 to the present day, featuring contributions from Brendan Molloy, Johnny Murray, Eamonn McCann, and guest speakers. On Friday, 23rd October at 8:00pm, Studio 2 hosts the Seisiún Mór (Big Session), offering a wonderful evening of music with friends and guest musicians from across Ireland for just £5 admission.
The weekend highlights open on Saturday, 24th October at 8:00pm at Studio 2 with Aileach in Concert, a very special tribute performance in memory of the late Denis Heaney Snr—a renowned fiddle player and teacher. Original band member Bernard Heaney joins Aileach on stage to honor his father's incredible musical legacy (tickets are £15 plus booking fee, available at studio2derry.com/cce10). Finally, the celebration concludes on Sunday, 25th October, with Traditional Music Workshops starting at 11:00am at Studio 2, covering Singing, Harp, Accordion, Concertina, Fiddle, Banjo, Tin Whistle, and Branch Learners, followed by a Youth Session from 2:15pm to 4:30pm. Workshop places cost £25, which includes lunch, and are strictly limited to 12 participants per class.
