Confronting Complicity: Institutional Failure in the Face of Genocide

Saturday 28 November 2026 | 1pm-4pm

Destined, Derry

Organised by the Bloody Sunday Trust

Join the Bloody Sunday Trust in Derry for a national conference examining Irish institutional and corporate complicity in the genocide in Gaza.

About the Conference

The conference will bring together campaign groups, human rights advocates and members of the public to examine the extent of Irish political, economic and institutional relationships with Israel, and the responsibilities that arise under international law.

Drawing on the experiences of campaigners working across different sectors, the conference will provide an opportunity to review progress, share lessons and explore how collective action can strengthen efforts to challenge complicity and advance accountability.

Conference Themes

The conference will explore:

The extent of Irish political and corporate complicity in the genocide in Gaza.

Campaigns working to end institutional and corporate complicity, including their progress, successes and challenges.

Opportunities to strengthen collaboration between campaign groups, human rights organisations, justice movements and policymakers.

Further avenues for action, including legal measures to hold those responsible for complicity to account.

The implementation of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) policies across cultural, sporting, economic and academic sectors.

Conference Chair: Fintan Drury

Fintan Drury is a former RTÉ journalist and broadcaster who has held senior positions across Irish media, communications and sports management. He is the author of Catastrophe: Nakba II, shortlisted for the 2025 A Post Irish Book Awards Non-Fiction Book of the Year. His most recent book is Genocide: Sponsoring the Destruction of Palestine. He is also Chair of Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI).

Who Should Attend?

The conference is open to anyone interested in Palestine, human rights, international law and social justice.

It will be of particular interest to:

Palestine solidarity and BDS campaigners.

Human rights and social justice organisations.

Trade unionists and community activists.

Academics, researchers and students.
