The GeoEnergy Discovery Centre is set to go on a geothermal roadshow and visit multiple locations across Northern Ireland as we aim to help visitors ‘unearth the heat beneath their feet’ and find out more about geothermal energy in Northern Ireland. The GeoEnergy Discovery Centre is a key part of the GeoEnergy NI project being delivered by the Department for the Economy (DfE), with scientific support from the Geological Survey of Northern Ireland (GSNI).
What’s included in the GeoEnergy Discovery Centre?
✔ Virtual reality headsets designed to explain how geothermal energy works and show its potential as a renewable and sustainable energy source.
✔ A chance to handle the different types of rock found at different depths in Northern Ireland and see first-hand their respective properties
✔ Information on the uses of geothermal energy and how Northern Ireland could potentially benefit from this renewable, sustainable energy source.
✔ Case studies from locations in Northern Ireland who have already harnessed the power of Geothermal energy
Information on the future potential of geothermal energy and a chance to ask our specialist team any relevant questions.
By unearthing the geothermal resources beneath our feet, GeoEnergy NI will help pave the way for a more sustainable energy future – a future powered by the planet itself.

The GeoEnergy Discovery Centre is a free to visit, interactive, family experience. Across the various locations, the centre will be open from 10am – 4pm
