Gilla Band
Date: 23 October 2025
Venue: Sandinos, Water Street, Derry/Londonderry, Co. Derry, BT48 6BQ
Arguably one of the most influential guitar bands to come from Ireland, Dublin avant-punk group Gilla Band have announced a Derry show in Sandinos on Thursday 23rd October 2025 coinciding with the vinyl reissue of their seminal EP 'The Early Years', out through Rough Trade Records.
Gilla Band, Ireland's favourite Avant-punk quartet has re-issued The Early Years EP, a collection of out-of-print 7" singles and covers originally released on Any Other City Records and The Quarter Inch Collective and then on Rough Trade Records in 2015. The re-issue features new artwork based on the original colour blocks plus The Cha Cha Cha has now been remastered alongside the rest of the tracks and is ready for the dancefloor once again.
Fan fave (and live setlist staple) featured on the collection is an eight-minute cover of post-dubstep mastermind Blawan's absurdist banger and demented earworm "Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage" that, simply put, is unlike anything you've ever heard before or since.
The newly reissued 12" vinyl for "The Early Years" is on sale now through Rough Trade Records and the Gilla Band merch store, as well as local record stores.
Speaking on their upcoming run of intimate shows celebrating the reissue, Gilla Band say:
"We released The Early Years EP 10 years ago and as we approach the 10 year anniversary of our debut album, we wanted to do a run of shows across Ireland playing a lot of our older material, as well as a bunch of unheard new material."
