Medieval Pilgrim Path Tour

Starting at the site of a medieval ferry port, we walk in the footsteps of St. Columba, the iconic holy man who founded this city 1,500 years ago.
We follow sections of a fossilised trackway leading to the heart of medieval Derry, or more accurately, Doire, Columba’s sacred oak grove.

Through the time-honoured tradition of storytelling, our guides bring to life a lost Derry: a Derry of round towers, holy wells, and ancient stones, stones that still speak through the buildings around us. They invite us to feel the fervour of an ancient faith and hear the colourful folk tales that sprang from this hill and continue to echo to this day.

Discover the story of St. Columb’s ‘kneeling stones,’ venerated on or near this site for over 1,000 years. Place your hand into a time before history began.

This tour will depart from Visit Derry Visitor Centre in Waterloo Place.

Tour Price: Starting from £5 (Pay on arrival)
