The HumanKind Programme sets out to provide cross-community humanitarian workshops in the Londonderry/ Derry and Strabane area. Our 5-session course will introduce participants to a wide variety of humanitarian and practical first aid sessions which all include an element of cross-community and good relations. As well as our humanitarian actor courses, we will be delivering volunteer action day, a café culture event and community activity events that will bring some much needed cross- community engagement to the area. We hope to kick off our first cohort at the start of April. Throughout the project our workshops will be focusing on Emergency First Aid, Good Relations, Understanding Humanitarianism, Cultural Diversity, Understanding Refugee

We have a number of open call workshops over the summer but if a youth club would like us to come in a run our programme with their participants over the summer we are pretty flexible. Throughout the project our workshops will be focusing on Emergency First Aid, Good Relations, Understanding Humanitarianism, Cultural Diversity, Understanding Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Safeguarding Mental Health, Community Volunteering. All workshops will have cross- community intervention and good relations at the heart of it so we will be recruiting from a wide range of community backgrounds to make sure that we meet the minimum requirement for integrated intervention, which for PeacePlus is 65/ 35. Over the 2 years of HumanKind we will be working with a minimum of 220 participants especially aged 15- 25 but we hope to do intergenerational work in community centres. In year 2 we hope to work with the Irish Red Cross, to run a programme called Youth on the Run which gives participants the opportunity to step into the shoes of a displaced person to further understand the difficulties trying to make a life in a different country.
