**STEP INSIDE A CAMERA!**
**What if you could turn an entire room into a camera?**
Join us on **29 & 30 August** at the **Waterside Women's Centre** for a special **Camera Obscura & Pinhole Photography Workshop**, as part of **Waterside Together**, our PEACEPLUS shared green spaces project.
**BUT WHAT IS A CAMERA OBSCURA?**
A **camera obscura** is a darkened room where light enters through a small opening, projecting an image of the outside world onto the walls inside.
✨ For this workshop, we'll transform an **entire room at the Waterside Women's Centre** into a giant camera obscura.
️ From inside the room, you'll be able to **watch the world go by on Spencer Road, with views stretching up towards Ebrington — seeing the outside world reflected inside the room.** ️♀️
You'll have the chance to experience the **historic science behind the large camera obscura**, exploring how light, lenses and exposure have been used to create images for centuries.
**MAKE YOUR OWN CAMERA!**
Participants will then create their own **working pinhole camera obscura** and experiment with light and exposure to capture their own images.
**FROM LIGHT TO PRINT**
You'll also get to experience **darkroom printing**, producing your own **black and white photographs using one of the oldest forms of photography**.
It's a hands-on opportunity to explore the science, history and creativity of photography — from seeing the outside world projected inside a room, to making your own camera and creating your own photographic prints. ✨
**CONNECTING PEOPLE & SHARED SPACES**
This connects to the heart of **Waterside Together**: exploring how shared spaces can bring people together and encouraging us to see the places around us in new ways.
By turning our view of the outside world inside, we'll be thinking about the connections between **people, communities and the shared spaces that sit between them.**

**Four sessions**
️ **Maximum 6 participants per session**
**FREE to attend!**
**CHILDREN & ADULTS TAKE PART TOGETHER**
An **adult must attend with their child**. Where possible, we would particularly encourage families/friends to come as **groups of three**.
No previous photography experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to experiment!
