A practical 10-week Introduction to Philosophy & Meditation course in Derry, exploring wisdom, self-knowledge, attention and everyday life through discussion, exercises and stillness practice.
Join the School of Philosophy & Economic Science for a 10-week Introduction to Philosophy & Meditation course in Derry.
The course begins with a simple question: What is wisdom? Over ten weeks, participants explore practical ideas around self-knowledge, attention, justice, beauty, truth and how philosophy can be applied in everyday life.
The course draws on ideas from both Eastern and Western philosophy and is designed to be practical and accessible. Each week includes guided discussion, practical exercises and a short stillness practice, giving participants the opportunity to test the ideas for themselves rather than simply study them as theory.
Topics include knowing yourself, being more awake and attentive, living justly, understanding energy, the power of reason and beauty, and the desire for truth. The course also gives participants simple tools that can be used between classes to bring more awareness and reflection into daily life.
Classes take place at St Columb's Park House, 4 Limavady Road, Waterside, Derry/Londonderry. There are two weekly options available: Tuesday mornings at 10:30am or Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.
The full 10-week introductory course costs £22 in Northern Ireland. All are welcome and no previous experience of philosophy or meditation is needed.
The School of Philosophy & Economic Science is an educational charity offering practical philosophy and meditation courses across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
