As part of the Creating Creatives PEACEPLUS project Cara Donaghey and Mel Bradley will be facilitating an exciting new dual location creative writing and visual art course for adults in Derry/Londonderry and Donegal, between May and August 2025, called 'revelation in the everyday: an unfolding scene'

Over the course of 13 weeks, two groups (one based in St Columb's Park House on a Thursday evening from 7-9pm and the other based between ArtLink Fort Dunree and St Mary's Hall in Buncrana on a Tuesday evening from 7-9pm) will concurrently take part in sessions with Cara and Mel to use the power of observation to make artworks inspired by the beauty of the ordinary and the everyday.

Participants will interpret their ideas visually through drawing, collage, and simple printmaking methods in their sessions with Cara, exploring the detail in things we often overlook. With Mel, using the form Haibun, they will learn to describe an unfolding scene, a slice of life, a character sketch or a special moment. Uncovering all the layers so that it can be savoured.

Participants will also explore the relationship between visual imagery and text through Mel and Cara's joint workshops which will take place at keystone moments during the 13 weeks.

The end result of the project will be showcased at a number of local arts festivals throughout the next year!
