Stage Beyond presents 'Available Light'

Date: 19 June 2024

Venue: Millennium Forum, Newmarket Street, Derry, Derry, BT486EB

Award-winning Derry based Stage Beyond Theatre Company presents its annual production 'Available Light' in the Millennium Forum on Wednesday, June 19th at 7.30pm.

When Mildew Flint and Melchisedech Bradley of Available Light Productions set out to make a documentary at the expense of a theatre group made up of people with learning and other challenges, they get more than they bargained for – and a lot more than they were expecting …
Once again award-winning Stage Beyond challenges itself and its audiences with a play of purpose and humour 'AVAILABLE LIGHT' – this time specially written for the company by poet and playwright Damian Gorman.

Over the years Damian's work has garnered awards as diverse as a Golden Harp Award and an MBE; a Better Ireland Award and a BAFTA. Last year he wrote the Book and Lyrics for BEYOND BELIEF, a musical drama charting the lives and work of John and Pat Hume (Dir: Kieran Griffiths; Music by Brian O'Doherty). BEYOND BELIEF was named by the Observer and the Guardian as one of the five best shows of 2023.
From his time as founder of An CRANN to his work on the ground-breaking Middle East OLIVE TREE scholarship programme (with Rosemary Hollis), Damian has worked with all kinds of people in many diverse parts of the world, and of society. He is a Fellow of the Oxford Initiative for Global Ethics and Human Rights.

'AVAILABLE LIGHT' promises to be an unforgettable night at the theatre dedicated to the memory of much loved Stage Beyond founding member Catherine Campbell who passed away peacefully in Foyle Hospice on February 5th this year after a brief illness.
