The Ulster Orchestra is delighted to return to Derry~Londonderry with a programme full of dramatic musical landscapes, virtuosic violin melodies derived from Central European folk music and a meeting with nothing less than 'the force of destiny'!

We start our musical journey in the Scottish islands and Mendelssohn's much-loved depiction of the sea around the Hebrides and Fingal's Cave, before heading to Hungary for a spectacular take on the country's traditional music that features Ulster Orchestra Leader, Ioana Petcu-Colan, as soloist. Polish composer Kilar's depiction of Orawa in the Carpathians paints pictures of both the landscape and harvest festival celebrations, while Schubert's Symphony No. 8 is a perfectly-formed, two movement work full of shifting moods and gorgeous melody. We finish with another classical favourite, by turns stormy and lyrical, Verdi's dramatic overture to his opera 'The Force of Destiny'. So book your tickets now – it's your destiny to return to the Guildhall for another evening with the Ulster Orchestra!
