Good Relations Week 2026

Good Relations Week 2026

Good Relations Week 2026, taking place from 12th to 18th October, embraces ‘Include’ as its theme, recognising that stronger communities are built when everyone feels welcomed, valued and respected.

This year’s campaign highlights the importance of inclusion, understanding and connection across all backgrounds, cultures and communities.

By showcasing the creativity, dedication and impact of local groups, organisations and individuals, we can highlight the positive work taking place to address challenges such as division, racism, inequality, isolation, health and wellbeing, poverty and education.

Get involved in Good Relations Week 2026 and help create a future where everyone feels they belong.

Songs Without Borders

Sole Purpose

Songs Without Borders will perform songs from around the world. The group was formed to provide a space for newcomers to the city – migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, international students – to make connections and integrate with long term locals. We want everyone to feel included. This space challenges the division, racism, inequality and isolation that is prevalent in our society today. It creates a place of belonging and safety where all cultures are heard and welcomed. We have members from Bangladesh, Syria, Yemen, Iran, Nigeria, Ghana and Ukraine. Directed by professional singer and natural voice facilitator Maeve Leahy, the performance will include songs from the homelands and songs that the audience can join in with. It will be a beautiful evening of connection, joy and sharing.

Our Shared History

Friends of Derry City Cemetery

It opened during the Victorian period in 1853 just after the Famine. Like most developing cities the local churchyards were no longer fit for purpose and posed a serious health risk. It opened with separate RC and protestant sections and people who were divided in life also were divided in death.

The cemetery has now reached capacity, and a new one is in place at Killea. The history of the city, its divisions and links to the wider world spanning three centuries are literally carved on the numerous headstones. Amongst the graves of the prominent citizens, industrialists, politicians, philanthropists, war victims, sports stars and celebrities are the catholic and protestant paupers who had nothing.
