Period Poverty Programme

About the Programme

According to the charity Plan International, 1 in 10 girls cannot afford to buy menstrual products.

To help address this issue, the Council is piloting an initiative which will make free sanitary products available in
a number of venues. Based on the findings from this pilot, the initiative may be continued / extended /
modified / withdrawn.

The Products

Dispensers are located at venues within Council and contain a selection of sanitary towels/pads & tampons. We would encourage you to take a product as you need it -this is paramount to the initiative so we would therefore ask that you take as many as you need. We do ask, however, that you respect the purpose of the initiative i.e. tackling poverty, and use the products only as they are intended to be.

The Postcodes

So we can assess the success of the initiative, we would ask that you share your postcode with us to allow us to
track usage. Nothing else.

You can anonymously and confidentially do this in two ways:

  1. Text 074 911 63346 (free of charge) or
  2. Submit your postcode
