Adoption of Local Development Plan (LDP) Plan Strategy

Derry City & Strabane District Council adopts the Derry City & Strabane District Council Local Development Plan (LDP) 2032 - Plan Strategy on 10th July 2025, following the recent approval of the Planning Committee and Full Council.

The LDP Plan Strategy, the Adoption Statement, the Planning Appeals Commission (PAC)  report into the Independent Examination, the Direction from the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) and the Council’s Appraisal of the Sustainability of the LDP Plan Strategy, are all available to view online at the links below.

Copies of the documents are also available for inspection during normal office opening hours, by appointment only, from 10th July 2025, at the Council’s two main offices at

98 Strand Road, Derry, BT48 7NN and 47 Derry Road, Strabane, Co. Tyrone, BT82 8DY.

If you do require to inspect the documents in hard copy, please write to us or submit an email to [email protected] or telephone the LDP Team during normal office hours on 028 71 253253 and arrangements will be made for an appointment. All documents are available to view and download (free of charge). The printed LDP Plan Strategy will be available to purchase in the near future (at a cost). The report of the Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA), Equality Impact Assessment Report ( EQIA Further Addendum) and Rural Needs Impact Assessment (RNIA Further Addendum) are also available to view, at the links below. Please view this webpage for updates over the coming month, or contact the Council, for details of hard-copy availability and charges.

A series of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) documents, to support the implementation of the LDP, are now being made available to view on the Council’s webpage – see the links below, for public consultation. Any comments on any of these SPG documents should be submitted in writing to the above-mentioned Strand Road office or email address, before 4th September 2025. A further tranche of SPG documents will also be consulted-upon from September / October 2025, so please see this webpage for details at that time.

Derry City & Strabane District Council will now formally commence the preparation of the Local Development Plan (LDP) Local Policies Plan (LPP). The public is not required to take any further action or make any submissions at this time. This LPP will be undertaken in accordance with the Planning (LDP) Regulations (NI) 2015 and the Council’s published LDP Timetable and Statement of Community Involvement (Planning, SCI) (both documents are under review, available on the Council website:
