Council invites applications for Ulster-Scots Language Week

Derry City and Strabane District Council is calling for applications for events and projects to celebrate Ulster-Scots Language Week, which will run from November 24th to November 28th, 2025.

The Council is looking for proposals that will promote a greater awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language. A grant of up to £250 is available for each successful application to help with the development and delivery of events or activities.

Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, encouraged local groups and individuals to get involved said it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate our rich cultural heritage.

Encouraging groups and individuals to apply Mayor McHugh said:  "I encourage everyone with a passion for the Ulster-Scots language and culture to apply and help make this year's celebration a great success."

Prospective applicants can download a short application form from the Council's website: www.derrystrabane.com/ulsterscotsweek.

The deadline for completed proposals is 12 noon on Friday, September 26th, 2025.
