Council Service Updates for May Bank Holiday – Monday 5th May 2025
Opening Times
- Bin collections and Recycling Centres will operate as normal over the Bank Holiday weekend
Civic Offices
- Council offices on Strand Road, Derry and Derry Road, Strabane will be closed on Monday 5th May, reopening as normal on Tuesday 6th May
- Registry Offices in Derry and Strabane will be closed on Monday 5th May, reopening as normal on Tuesday 6th May
Visitor Services
- The Guildhall and The Tower Museum will be open as normal over the Bank Holiday weekend
- All Council owned cemeteries are open and operational from 8am to 8pm daily
- The Alley Theatre will be open as normal
- All Council parks and greenways will be open over the Bank Holiday weekend, and the public is encouraged to enjoy the outdoor spaces responsibly, keeping areas clean and safe by using bins provided
Dog Warden
- The Council will continue to offer an Out of Hours Service for ongoing dog attacks on persons or animals over the Easter break. If you need this service over the holidays, you can contact them via telephone on 07734 128096.
- Whilst there is no obligation on council to respond to other serious matters outside hours, the Dog Warden may do so after an assessment of any voicemail messages left.
Leisure Services
The following centres will be open as normal on Monday 5th May:
- Foyle Arena, Riversdale Leisure Centre, Melvin Arena, Derg Valley Leisure and Waterside Shared Village
The following centres will be closed on Monday 5th May, reopening as normal on Tuesday 6th May:
- Bishop’s Field, Brooke Park, City Baths and Templemore Sports Complex
