Do you need help looking for work or to retrain? Derry City and Strabane District Council support and part fund 5 local organisations who help people living within the Derry City and Strabane District Council area who meet one of the following criteria:

  • are unemployed (short and long term)
  • are economically inactive
  • are in work but want to work more hours
  • have a disability
  • are aged 16 to 24 years and not in education, employment or training.

They offer help and support across a wide range of sectors and welcome people to contact them with whatever job seeking questions or needs they may have.

The Bytes Project

The Bytes Project has been working with the most vulnerable young people in Northern Ireland for nearly three decades. They use youth work and technology to help young people transform their lives & give them the confidence and skills they need to change the world around them for good. The Bytes Project strategy is comprised of 4 pillars, Youth Voice, Youth Digital, Youth Empathy & Youth Place.

Youth Voice - Our goal is to create accessible, non-judgmental spaces for young people to speak about issues affecting them and their communities, and to promote the voices of young people on local, regional & national issues.

Youth Digital - We aim to give young people access to cutting edge digital education, by creating engaging sessions that are accessible and adaptable to any group or context.
Youth Empathy - By creating shared, non-judgmental spaces for young people to meet and interact, we have seen time and again how the youth of today will put aside prejudices to build safer, more inclusive communities.

Youth Place - Over the next three years, our goal is to mentor groups of young people to represent the needs of their peers, while giving voluntary youth work providers support and training, so that youth services become more accessible and youth-led.

Enterprise Northern Ireland is the membership organisation for the network of Local Enterprise Agencies in Northern Ireland. We provide support to businesses through pre-start, start-up and growth initiatives as well as providing access to finance.
The Exploring Enterprise Programme is a pre-enterprise programme which seeks to support people who are considering self-employment as their route to enter and/or return to the labour market. The programme is a mixture of group training and one to one tailored mentoring support. Participants do not need to have a specific business idea to join; the programme provides an insight into starting a business whilst allowing participants to work towards achieving the OCN endorsed Level I qualification in Understanding Business Enterprise.
