City of Derry Jazz Festival

Traffic and travel 2nd – 6th May 2024

 

Road Closures

The public are asked to expect some traffic disruption this Saturday in the City Centre to facilitate the events of the City of Derry Jazz Festival and partner events. ‘Rock the Boat’ World record attempt will take place on Saturday 4th May on Shipquay Street so there will be a closure on the street from 11.30 to 13.00, traffic management will be in place for the event.

DLD Second Line Parade Route (Time Change & New route from previous years due to Rock the Boat)

Date: Saturday, 4 May - Time: 13:00 - 14:00

  • Depart from on Castle Street at 12:45 with stepping off at 13:00
  • Down Waterloo Street to Strand Road
  • Down Strand Road to make a right on Great James Street
  • Go past City Hotel and Round the round-a-bout
  • Come up Custom House Street and finish near the Guildhall Square.

 

Translink

All normal scheduled services to Derry-Londonderry will be operating 6 carriage trains hourly (instead of the 3 carriages in previous years). Check out the full timetable at their link below.

Please note that, as a result of the transition to the new station, there will be a line closure on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6th, 2024, to enable removal of the old station and footbridge.Translink is undertaking additional safety works to limit future line closures, including tree removal at Lough Shore Park and embankment works at Whitehead.

- Bus substitutions will operate between Lanyon Place and Antrim for passengers on the Derry~Londonderry and Portrush lines.

Society Street, Strand Road, Victoria Street, William Street, Carlisle Road, Queens Quay, Foyle Road, Foyle Street, Ebrington, Spencer Road car parks all open.

Reduced spaces at Bishop Street to accommodate Motorhome Parking.

Quayside Opening

Access and inclusion

A Quiet Space will be available on Saturday and Sunday during the festival for those who need to make use of it. A quiet room will be available from 12pm until 5pm in the Ceremonial room in the Guildhall.

 

Toilets

Toilets will be available in the Guildhall throughout the festival, including Accessible Toilet Provision and Baby Changing facilities

L’derry 09:30 – 5pm – 7 days a week Also opened in evening when panto or other performances are taking place.

Foyleside Shopping Centre

L’Derry Monday – Tuesday: 9am-6pm Wednesday – Friday: 9am-9pm Saturday : 9am-7pm Sunday: 1pm-6pm

Destined – Foyle Valley Railway

Museum Monday – Thursday: 10:00am – 9:00pm Friday:10:00am – 4:00pm Saturday: 10:00am – 3:00pm
