Strabane’s Town of Culture — Be Part of It!

This Is Our Moment

Town of Culture is an opportunity to show the UK what Strabane already knows:  There is something special about this place and its people.

This is our chance to celebrate where we have come from, be proud of who we are and imagine what we can achieve together.

And we don't want people simply to watch it happen.  We want you to own it.

Because the best ideas for Strabane are already here — in our homes, our streets, our schools, our businesses, our community groups, our creative spaces and in the people who call this place home.

This is Strabane’s story. And we want you to help tell it.

Strabane is a town full of creativity, talent, heritage, music, sports, stories and community spirit. Above all, it is a town shaped by people who care about where they live and believe in what is possible.

Our bid to become Town of Culture 2028 is a chance to share what makes Strabane special, celebrate our people and create opportunities that leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

But this is about more than a title.  It is about us.

Our story is one of hope and resilience — of people coming together, supporting one another, overcoming challenges and always finding reasons to celebrate.

Now is our opportunity to build on that spirit.

To celebrate where we have come from.
To be proud of who we are.
To imagine what comes next.
And to make possibility real.

Town of Culture is something we can shape together — a moment to showcase our talent, strengthen our communities, inspire our young people and open the door to new ideas and opportunities.

Whether you're a young person with an idea, a local artist or performer, a community group, a business, a school, a volunteer or simply someone who loves Strabane — there's a role for you.

Share Your Ideas

What makes Strabane special to you?

Tell us about the people, places, traditions, music, stories and creative talent that make our town unique. We want to hear your ideas for what a year of culture could look and feel like in Strabane.

Your idea could become part of the story.

Get Creative

Strabane has a proud tradition of producing musicians, writers, performers, artists and makers.

We want to give local talent opportunities to create, perform, collaborate and showcase their work — while inspiring the next generation to get involved.

From traditional music and storytelling to theatre, dance, visual arts, digital creativity and new forms of expression, there is a place for everyone.

Young People

Strabane's cultural future belongs to its young people.

We want young people to have a real voice in shaping what happens — from the events and activities they want to see to opportunities to develop their own creative skills.

Whether you're into music, sport, art, fashion, film, gaming, performance or something completely different, we want to hear from you.

Community Groups, Sports Clubs & Organisations

Our community & sports organisations are at the heart of Strabane.

If your group, club, school, charity or organisation has an idea for a project, event, workshop or activity, we want to hear from you.

Let's work together to make sure the Town of Culture programme reaches every part of our community.

Businesses & Enterprise

Local businesses have an important role to play in making Town of Culture a success.
It is an opportunity to Love Strabane, celebrate our culture and showcase everything our town has to offer. From retailers, hospitality and tourism businesses to professional services, manufacturers, entrepreneurs and employers, businesses can get involved by supporting events, creating partnerships, showcasing local talent, welcoming visitors and helping bring new ideas to life.
By getting behind the bid, businesses can become proud ambassadors for Strabane — celebrating our heritage, creativity, entreprenuership, achievements, community spirit and the people and businesses who make our town truly special.
