Sustainability

Derry City and Strabane District Council is asking people to Be Sustainable by doing little things in their everyday life to be kinder to the environment.

The local authority has committed to abolishing single use plastics in all of its facilities by 2023 and is one of the first Council’s in Europe to have a dedicated Zero Waste Circular Economy Strategy, aiming to create jobs while reducing waste.

Top tips on how to be more sustainable at our events:

  1. Leave your car at home and using public transport to get to our events.
  2. Pack a reusable bag for your bits and bobs. They’re totes cool!
  3. Bring a reusable cup and food container. Vendors will be happy to refill!
  4. Dispose of recyclable waste in the correct designated bins, where available. Ask a volunteer if you have trouble finding the recycling point/bin nearest to you.
  5. Bin cigarette butts responsibly i.e. IN BINS, not on the street.
  6. Have a great, green day & night!
