New Age Friendly Calendar will transport you to a happy place
Derry City and Strabane District Council is inviting local residents to share their creativity by submitting photographs or artwork for inclusion in the new Age Friendly ‘Happy Place’ Calendar 2026.
This special calendar aims to support older citizens and will be distributed across the Western Health and Social Care Trust area as part of a joint initiative. The project is a collaboration between Derry City and Strabane District Council, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, South West Age Partnership, the Western Health and Social Care Trust, and the Public Health Agency.
Funded by the Public Health Agency to mark Positive Ageing Month, the calendar promotes emotional health and wellbeing through the Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing:
- Connect
- Be Active
- Take Notice

We are calling on residents aged 50 and over to submit photographs or paintings (without people) of a special place in the Derry and Strabane area that represents their personal ‘Happy Place’. The winning entries will feature in the calendar, which will be delivered to 10,000 homes and distributed to:
- Community and voluntary organisations

- Healthy Living Centres
