DEMENTIA AWARENESS & REMINSCENCE PROGRAMME

The Tower Museum in Partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society will be running workshops throughout the year. The Museum has a number of Reminiscence Loan Boxes available for hire at £5 per box which also have complimentary sensory boxes suitable for dementia.

Outreach Programme

The Museum also provides an outreach     programme which is available to schools, statutory, community and voluntary sector where a trained member of the museum staff will deliver a Reminiscence session to your group either in your premises or if you want a change of scenery  - in the Museum.  The Reminiscence boxes are as follows:

Home Life Christmas Time 1950's
At the Seaside Factory Life WW1
Rural Life Leaving Home WW2

Staff have also been trained as Dementia Champions and can deliver Dementia Awareness training on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society.  This training is open to Community/Voluntary and Business sectors.  Please contact the Museum for further information.

Autism Friendly

We are Autism friendly here at the Tower Museum.

Working in association with AutismNI, Northern Ireland’s Autism Charity, we aim to provide opportunities for engagement and learning for people with Autism.  Through our Learning and Engagement programme, we break down barriers to individuals with autism when accessing cultural venues.  The museum offers a quiet space that visitors can access and it is clearly signposted.  Museum staff have all undertaken Autism Awareness Training.

On arrival to the museum please ask for help.  Look out for the Autism NI ribbon symbol.

The museum offers Autism Friendly workshops to accompany the exhibition programme, where possible.  Check out the Tower Museum programme for details of the Autism Friendly workshops on offer, and a ground floor plan is available here.

Autism Friendly tours of the Tower Museum are also available on request.
