The Inclusive Employment Programme works with both employers and residence with a disability within DCSDC. Working with residents, this programme will establish their strengths and ambitions on where they would like to work. Working with employers, the programme will create placement opportunities for residents, allowing them to gain valuable experiences.
Participants on this programme will receive wrap around support in:
- Personal support
- Identify levels of ability, current training and qualifications
- employment aspirations with plans to reach them
- Assess individual needs and barriers
- Direction to existing mainstream support services
- Building on communication skills, confidence, team work etc.
- Obtaining the following qualifications:
- OCN NI Level 1 Award in Employability Skills
- World Host Principles of Customer Service
- World Host Ambassador Workshop
- Awareness sessions
- Understand workplace support available e.g. Workable NI, Access to Work, CMP, schemes managed by local disability employment organisations etc.
- Employment support
- Employability skills, job maintenance, resilience, understanding pay, staying safe at work, travel to work etc.
- Entering a suitable placement or work trial to gain practical experience on the job
- Locating and applying for job opportunities
- Understanding job descriptions, completing applications, interview techniques
- Etc.
Employers on this programme will receive support in:
- Understanding policies and procedures in line with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (amended in 2006)
- inclusive recruitment processes such as work placements/trials in place of interviews, flexible working hours, minor adjustments within workspaces etc.
- awareness of workplace support available when employing individuals with a disability or long-term health considerations e.g., Workable NI, Access to Work, schemes managed by local disability employment organisations etc.
- providing placements to programme participants
- Identify current employment opportunities suitable for programme participants
You are eligible for this programme if you:
- Are considered to have a disability - Under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 a person is considered to have a disability if he or she has “a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities”
- Are of a working age and a resident of DCSDC
- Have no, or low qualifications
- Have the right to work in the UK (evidence must be provided to DSLMP)
- Show commitment to fully participating in the programme, complete all necessary paperwork (registration, evaluation, follow up forms), and will accept post programme support and mentoring
- Have the time available to attend all necessary training without exception
- Are not participating in any other initiative that would exclude them from a DSLMP Programme (time, commitment, etc.)
