PLANT AND MACHINERY Employment Academy


Start Date: January 2026

With contractors being secured across DCSDC to deliver in large capital projects, DSLMP are offering local residents a chance to obtain qualifications in the operation of specific plant and machinery, in order to avail of up and coming employment opportunities.
This Plant and Machinery employment academy offers participants training, qualification/licenses and support in obtaining employment within the following plant machinery roles:

  • Articulated Dump Trucks
  • Ride On Rollers
  • Telescopic Handler
  • Plant and Vehicle Marshalling
  • Tractors
  • Slinger
 

Participants on this academy will receive wrap around support in:

  • Obtaining the following training, qualifications and certificates:

  • Personal development

    • confidence building, communication, teamwork, resilience, conflict resolution, problem solving etc.
    • Managing expectations, learning plan/progression route
  • Employment support

    • Personal presentation, resilience, job maintenance
    • CV development, application form completion
    • interview techniques, aptitude tests
    • secure placement, job trail, or an interview on completion


You are eligible for this programme if you:

  • Are out of work and ready to take up employment. 
  • Exceptions will be considered for those who are:
  • in a low paid/zero-hour contract within a construction related position
  • at risk of losing their job due to a heavy/laborious work force
  • Are of a working age and a resident of DCSDC
  • Have no, or low qualifications
  • Have the right to work in the UK (evidence must be provided to DSLMP)
  • Show commitment to fully participating in the programme, complete all necessary paperwork (registration, evaluation, follow up forms)
  • Have the time available to attend all necessary training without exception
  • Are not participating in any other initiative that would exclude them from a DSLMP Programme (time, commitment, etc.)
