Small Business (Customer Facing) Employment Academy

This Customer Facing Small Business employment academy offers participants training, qualification and support in obtaining employment within small businesses such as:

  • Retail  
  • Coffee shops
  • Restaurants  
  • Guest houses  
  • Corner shops
  • Take away establishments
  • Call centres
  • etc.

Participants on this academy will receive wrap around support in:

  • Obtaining the following training, qualifications and certificates:
    • World Host Principles of Customer Service Level 2 Award
    • Health and Safety Level 2
    • Food Hygiene Level 2
    • Emergency First Aid at Work
    • Manual Handling
  • Personal development
    • confidence building, communication, teamwork, resilience, conflict resolution, problem solving etc.
    • Managing expectations, learning plan/progression route
  • Employment support
    • Careers guidance
    • Industry masterclass
    • Employer site visit
    • Personal presentation, resilience, job maintenance
    • CV development, application form completion
    • interview techniques, aptitude tests
    • secure placement, job trail, or an interview on completion

You are eligible for this programme if you:

  • Are out of work and ready to take up employment. 
  • Are of a working age and a resident of DCSDC
  • Have no, or low qualifications
  • Have the right to work in the UK (evidence must be provided to DSLMP)
  • Show commitment to fully participating in the programme, complete all necessary paperwork (registration, evaluation, follow up forms)
  • Have the time available to attend all necessary training without exception
  • Are not participating in any other initiative that would exclude them from a DSLMP Programme (time, commitment, etc.)
