This HGV / PCV employment academy offers participants training, licence and support in obtaining employment within the HGV / PCV industry.
Participants on this academy will receive wrap around mentoring and support in:
- Completing and obtaining the following training, checks, certificates and licenses:
- Medical assessment
- Provisional Licence
- Theory
- Hazard Perception (HP)
- Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- Full HGV class C licence / PCV category D bus licence
- Personal development
- confidence building, communication, teamwork, resilience, conflict resolution, problem solving etc.
- Managing expectations, learning plan/progression route
- Employment support
- Personal presentation, resilience, job maintenance
- CV development, application form completion
- interview techniques, aptitude tests
- secure placement, job trail, or an interview on completion
You are eligible for this programme if you:
- Aged 21+ years old and resident within Derry City and Strabane District Council.
- Meet all Driver and Vehicle Agency criteria.
- Hold a full, clean category B driving license.
- Have the correct and required documentation at hand.
- Have no medical, health or eye conditions which would exclude them from undertaking training / gaining the license.
- Are out of work and ready to take up employment.
- Exceptions will be considered for those who are who are seeking to change careers due to barriers related to current employment
- Have no, or low qualifications
- Have the right to work in the UK (evidence must be provided to DSLMP)
- Show commitment to fully participating in the programme, complete all necessary paperwork (registration, evaluation, follow up forms)
- Have the time available to attend all necessary training without exception
- Are not participating in any other initiative that would exclude them from a DSLMP Programme (time, commitment, etc.)
