TAXI Employment Academy

Start Date: January 2026

This TAXI employment academy offers participants training, licence and support in obtaining employment within the TAXI industry.
Participants on this academy will receive wrap around mentoring and support in:

• Completing and obtaining the following training, checks, certificates and licenses:
  • Group 2 Medical
  • Enhanced Access NI check
  • Criminal Records Check
  • Hazard perception
  • TAXI driving preparation
  • Taxi licence
  • Mental Health First Aid
• Employment support
  • Access to DVA
  • Verified NI Direct account
  • HMRC registration and TAX check
  • Registering as self-employed
  • Secure an interview on completion

• Are out of work and ready to take up employment. 
  • Exceptions will be considered for those who are who are seeking to change careers due to barriers related to current employment
• Are of a working age and a resident of DCSDC
• Have no, or low qualifications
• Have the right to work in the UK (evidence must be provided to DSLMP)
• Show commitment to fully participating in the programme, complete all necessary paperwork (registration, evaluation, follow up forms)
• Have the time available to attend all necessary training without exception
• Are not participating in any other initiative that would exclude them from a DSLMP Programme (time, commitment, etc.)
